1st Northwood Scout Group
|
The 1st Northwood was founded in 1914 when Northwood was little more than a village and the bulk of the population lived around the High Street and Hallowell Road. Our present Headquarters, in Northwood Way, was built by parents and friends in 1955. To find our HQ click here and we are opposite Hillside School.
We offer Scouting to boys of all religions and faiths from the age of 6 years to 20 years in our Beaver Colony (6 to 8) through Cub Scouts (8 to 10½) and Scouts (10½ to 15) up to our Venture Scouts (15 to 20). In addition the Venture Scouts welcome female members. The details of our sections are as follows:
| Beaver Scouts: | Monday | 5 to 6 p.m. |
| Cub Scouts: | Monday | 7:00 to 8:15 p.m. |
| Scouts: | Friday | 7 to 9 p.m. |
| Venture Scouts: | Thursday | 8 to 10 p.m. |
All training sections are very active and as well as the weekly meetings extra activities and camps are arranged throughout the year. We are very well equipped for all the usual Scouting activities of camping, walking, climbing, to name but a few.
Like all Scout Groups we are not publicly funded and to maintain our Headquarters, the Group Minibus, camping equipment and all the other items we need to provide good Scouting our Group Executive holds one very large Jumble Sale in May each year.
We have a Group Newsletter called First News which is produced by our Group Scout Leader four times a year, in January, April, July and October.
