Stones and Pebbles Available

If you need any for gardening or DIY, we have a large number at the HQ which we need to dispose of. These were excavated from behind the building as part of our efforts to prevent future floods. If you want any of these attractive flints, please get on touch with myself or any other committee member. They will otherwise be disposed of in the next two weeks.

St George's Day

Our annual District St George's Day celebration and Renewal of Promise takes place on Friday 27th April from 7:15pm to 8:15pm at Northwood Methodist Church, Oakland Gate, Northwood,. St George is the petron saint of Scouts and every year around St George's Day (23rd April) all members of the Scout association remember and renew the Promise they made when they were invested. It is therefore an important date in the Scouting diary and I would ask all parents to encourage their son to attend. Beaver Scouts and Cub Scouts will be met by their leaders outside the Church just after 7:00pm and the Scouts will be met at the HQ to leave promptly in the Group bus at 7:00pm. The Scouts will also be bussed back to the HQ to conclude their normal weekly meeting.

Jumble Sale

You will have all seen the dates of the leaflet raid and collection for this year's Jumble Sale. This is the only fund raising event the Group holds each year. The money raised goes to keep the HQ in good shape, keep our mini bus on the road and to provide the 101 other bits and pieces of Scouting equipment we need to keep the Group active. You will receive further information of the help we need from our Group chairman, Paul Akers. As you know from the application form you signed when your sons joined us, helping to raise funds is a job for all parents and boys. I urge you ALL to do your "bit" and not leave it to the usual few.

Trevor Alexander, Group Scout Leader

Camps

With the continuing restricted access to areas of countryside as a result of foot-and-mouth disease, the plans for the Cub and Scout camp in June/August may be subject to alteration. The situation is being monitored and you will be advised of any changes nearer the time.
