The Scout Troop is a very active part of the 1st Northwood Scout Group. Various activities are undertaken, including swimming, camping, hiking, rock-climbing and abseiling.
The Troop spans the gap between the dependent Cub Scout and the independent Venture Scout. The role of the Scout Leaders is to encourage this progression as boys move through the troop. The Patrol system is used to organise the Troop, where each boy is in a Patrol with a Patrol Leader and his assistant. The Troop is run by the Patrol Leaders Council, which liaises closely with the Leaders. We try to emphasise the fun elements in Scouting so that training does not become a chore.
We hold a twice-yearly Night Hike, so if you enjoy walking about in the middle of the night in the depths of Hertfordshire from checkpoint to checkpoint then why not join us?
The Troop has the backing of four experienced leaders, with many years Scouting behind them. There are currently spaces available for any boys aged 10 to 15. Please e-mail us if you are interested in joining.
