them all “happy and safe camping”. My admiration goes to the Scout Leaders who have had to seek alternative camp venues due to foot and mouth closures at the last minute. Fantastic leadership must be and has to be the hallmark of the Northwood Eastcote District, in every section. Your D.C. Is very much aware of the total dedication each and every leader and assistant leader together with helpers and parents etc. Give in the cause of Scouting in this District.
We do have one or two problems, mainly who is going to run the Cubs at 2nd Eastcote. What about leadership of Cubs at 1st Northwood or indeed a leader to come forward for either Monday or Thursday packs at 6th Northwood (we cannot expect the existing team of two leaders to run both pack evenings for much longer). Toni Mitchell is addressing these problems so please giver her your 101% support. Meanwhile let me wish everyone of you a restful summer holiday and do please invite me to come and share in some of your autumn programme evenings... Your D.C. Isn’t a stand alone, nor even a stand aloof but very much hands on waiting to be invited and only a telephone call away. Northwood Eastcote may be a small District but is the very heart of my commitment to Scouting. Thank you in the name of Scouting to everyone, we are aa team effort much appreciated by our beavers, cubs, scouts and ventures.

CUB SCOUTS

The new Mayor of Hilliilgdon, Councillor Catherine Dann, agreed to hold a Reception for our top-
achieving Cubs of the last year or so, and sixteen youngsters had a memorable evening with her at the Civic Centre on 26th June, with detailed explanations of the job of the Mayor and the workings of the Council Chamber. It was earlier feared that the Reception would not be possible this year, but persistence paid off, and we hope that this has now become a regular annual feature on our calendar.
Packs have been camping during the summer, with 6th Northwood experiencing but surviving avery wet weekend at Phasels Wood, and the 1st Northwood at Chalfont the same weekend as part of the County Camp. Memories of “The Big Camp” last year were inevitable with mud, more mud, and even more mud everywhere! The 2nd Northwood and 5th Eastcote were both at Phasels only a week later and enjoyed the hottest weekend of the year!
During the autumn months we shall be concentrating on celebrations of the 85th birthday of Cub Scouting (see calendar of events) while at the same time continuing to seek new leaders for those Packs increasingly in need.

Note to all readers: when did you last ask what is happening in the Cub Scout Pack in your Group? When did you last visit them? When did you last offer to help them? What a great
