Whoever you are, of whatever age, Scouting can offer something for you!
The 4 sections open to young people are as follows:
- Beaver Scouts:- age 6 - 8
- Cub Scouts:- age 8 - 10 1/2
- Scouts:- age 10 1/2 - 15 1/2
- Venture Scouts:- age 15 1/2 - 20
Those over 20 can become involved in many different ways:
- At Beavers, Cubs, Scouts or Ventures:
- As a uniformed leader - each section (Beavers, Cubs, etc.) must have a number of uniformed leaders,
normally one section leader and some assistant section leaders. In addition, each Group should have a
Group Scout Leader to oversee leadership in the Group.
- As a regular helper or skills instructor - if you do not want to take a warrant as a leader, you will still be more
than welcome as a regular helper to supervise activities or undertake specific training at meetings.
- Providing transport or other assistance (e.g. cooking) at camps, activities, etc.
- At a Group:
- On the Executive Committee - the group of people who support the Leaders, organising fund-raising,
running the headquarters (if it belongs to the Group) and being responsible for the finances and equipment of the Group.
- Helping at fund-raising events, social events, with recruitment, photocopying, the web site,
or with the maintenance of the HQ and equipment
- In the District:
- On the District Executive Committee - responsible for administration within the District
- On the Appointments Committee - responsible for interviewing prospective leaders.
- As activity advisor for some types of activity such as water, caving, climbing, etc.
If any of the above interest you, or if you have a specific skill which you
think would be of use to us, or just for any more information, please get in touch - simply email
